About Us
The Ocean City Jazz Festival is Topsail Island's only Jazz showcase event.  It is an annual musical showcase, which celebrates jazz legends and up-and-coming jazz greats.  The Festival is produced by the Ocean City  Beach Citizens Council annually during the July 4th weekend.

To promote and preserve the history and expand the knowledge of the Ocean City Community in North Carolina, preserve the historical site, support tourism through financial support of the diversity that Jazz inspires.

Increase interest in the genre of Jazz through performance and education in partnership with the
municipalities of Topsail Island, NC, surrounding counties and state educational entities/agencies.

History of the Festival
In 2009, The Ocean City Beach Council conceived the idea of a summertime family celebration to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Ocean City community.  The idea was presented to the community and received overwhelming positive response. Ocean City was established in 1949, as the first NC coastal community in which Blacks could purchase land, 15 years before the Civil Rights Act.  The first Festival was held on September 6, 2009 and has been held every year since.
